Merry Christmas & Happy New Year

Seasons Greetings to you all. No doubt you know that I am in Santa Cruz for the holidays, chillin like the villian I am in the hizzouse of the famizzle. (yes, i'm a fan of snoop dogg, get over it) So yea, this is me wishing you all a merry christmas ( i know i had one) and a happy new year ( I know i *won't* be having one...unless one of you fine ladies out there calls me up ). I had to include a picture of me and my dog Toby though. I took this with my new Sony Cybershot DCS-T1. Awesome camera, about the size of a deck of cards and easily slips in my pocket. Although the accessories were a little too expensive, I do love it. It'll get it's true test in Scotland.

Here's the plan in case you were wondering (read: mom, here's my itenerary)
January 6th - arrive London -- A DAY EARLY... thanks dad....
January 7th - sleeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeep ... that jet lag gets me everytime
Jan 8 - leave stansted airport around 5 o'clock arrive Glasgow around 6PM; take a bus to Edinburgh and spend the night at Budget Backpackers (37-39 Cowgate, Grassmarket, Edinburgh)
Jan 9 - take a whirlwind tour of Scotland, stopping at Cairngorm Mountaings, Forth Road Bridge, Ben Nevis, Glencoe, Loch Ness, and Fort Augustus
Jan 10 - explore aroudn Edinburgh (esp. Edinburgh Castle... our hostel is apparently down the street from it)
Jan 11 - wake up early (ugh) take bus back to glasgow airport, leave approx 12noon, arrive london approx 1PM...arrive at house around 3 PM

That's my trip planned, paid for, and highly anticipated both by me and Susan - yes, it's me and girl going for 3 days - get over it mom. ;) Anyways, hope you guys have a great one!! I'll write again probably after Scotland and have a bunch of pictures to share!!

Amsterdam was awesome

Ok, I don't need to repeat this, but Amsterdam was awesome! Best time of my life ;) We got there and checked into our 5 star hotel. During the day we wandered around the city. Amsterdam is a really nice place, and just to burst all of your preconceived notions that Amsterdam is the devil's hellhole, it's not. It's a really nice city, and the infamous Redlight district is pretty small, only about a square block total. Honestly, a lot of the locals didn't even know where it was. We had to search around for several hours to find it, and Amsterdam isn't even that big of a city (it's actually really small).

Redlight district is hilarious. It's all hookers in windows in their skivvies and strange dirty men wandering around. Me and artie didn't feel very awkward cuz we were with girls, so we felt somehow justified or at least not perverted. We walked around and just laughed.

I can't say a whole lot about Amsterdam, cuz Amsterdam is like Vegas. What happens in Amsterdam, stays in Amsterdam ;)

Anways, I'm home now for Christmas... it feels good to be home and eating good food! Looking forward to seeing all the old friends in the next month! Hit me up at home if you want to hang out, remember I still don't have a cell phone, so don't try.. .and i don't have a car, so i'll need a ride ;)

Meaghan, Me, Lianne, and Artie at the Heineken Brewery where we took the Heineken Experience. It was 10 Euros for a tour and free beer!! best money ever spent =)

Artie, Meaghan and me at a club in Amsterdam.

Red Light District!! yes! hookers and blow!! my kinda part of town! haha redlight is actually a really small part of town... it's just both sides of the canal for about the length of a city block

...and what you've all been waiting for... me and artie drinking Absinthe!! (Absente in europe). artie got to keep the bottle, i was kinda dissappointed =( oh well, i'll get another one next semester.

3 days left...??

I don't know how this semester went by so fast. Seems like it was just last week that I arrived here, completely confused and jet lagged outta my mind. But now I only have 3 days left. I'm leaving here Thursday afternoon, back to the states. We are having a Christmas party on Wednesday. It's a formal dinner at a really nice hotel in South Kensington and then a dance party afterwards. It's gonna be fun!! But then the next morning we all have to say goodbye... =(

Well I got back from Amsterdam alive....although I didn't sleep much at all. We had to leave for the airport at 5AM this morning, but we didn't even get back from clubbing until 3:30Am.. so we all just stayed up all night... But that made the airplane ride really short. I think I passed out immediately after sitting down, and then woke up AFTER we landed... didn't even wake up for the bumpy landing OR take off... man was I out.. Wish I could do that for all my plane flights (like this 10 hr one coming up...ugggg)

So Amsterdam was great. It was really small though. It's not a big city really... And definately not really what I was expecting at all. I was expecting to see everyone walking around smoking dope and hookers everywhere. But that was just the Red Light district. I got offered weed, cocain, ectasy many many times. Especially since my contacts were acting up, and so my eyes were constantly bloodshot, so all the dealers flocked to me cuz they thought I was already high.

The city itself is really nice. The Dutch are awesome people, for the most part they are really nice. We ran into some rude people though... we got cussed out in the first 5 minutes of leaving our hotel cuz we were walking in the bike path (and evereyone there has a bike, it's their preferred method of transportation, which was just cool by itself). We spent most of the time there walking around, visiting random sights. We were being really cheap to, so we didn't pay to go into the Rijks museum or Anne Franks house.... but we did go there! =) We did pony up the dough to visit the Heineken brewery though. That was an awesome time.... free beer!! wooohooo!

Alright, well I have finals tomorrow.. .and haven't studied at all for them!!! ahhhhhhhhhhh! ok... time to study... talk to you all in a couple days...
